Civil Liberties or Civil Information?

So…we don’t want people’s DNA to be taken upon arrest because that “infringes on civil liberties” but somehow forcing women to get an ultrasound is a completely easy procedure that does not infringe on civil liberties but rather “gives women more information?” I guess the words “invasive” and “personal” mean different things at different times—mainly when it is convenient for those opposing the first and affirming the second.

Granted, I agree with both—taking DNA for identification purposes, and giving women ultrasounds so as to increase the legitimacy and credibility of the procedure. But that is just my wishful thinking for a more informed body politic….
